Cyclone excitement in Port Douglas.

Although we are supposedly in the wet season, we have still not had a large amount of rain and 70% of Queensland is in a drought. Here they seem to waist a massive amount of water compared to other states we have been in.
We have been on cyclone watch now for a week.  Cyclone Dylan is on its way, today we had the bad news, we will not get it, it is expected to hit Townsville & South, tomorrow morning (Friday 31st Jan). So we have had king tides and even had a bit of surf at four mile beach, although no beach at present.  I had the day off today so have been for a walk around town to see what is happening.
The topography is stunning around here, every way you look.

Nice.

If this is all we have, if we do get a cyclone, I don't fancy our chances much!!!

The Old Wharf, which Steve has canoed under, but not on a king tide.

Not sure the swings are a safe play area, on a King Tide.

The place to get married, apparently.

Steve South Australia trip.

Steve needed to go back to South Australia to get some paper work we needed. So Steve had a good time catching up with good friends, he stayed with a lovely family. He did some surf life saving and had a great time. although he found the weather to be chilly at times.
