Near the Truck drivers smoko hut is a Lychee tree, as I had not had Lychees before, some of the drivers picked some and I found them to be very pleasant.

Up on the Tablelands the eggs are excellent, so one truck driver said to the other “if you stop for eggs get us a tray”, well the driver stopped and asked for 2 cartons instead of 2 trays and there are 15 dozen eggs in a carton!!! We all had a good laugh and have been eating lots of eggs!!!! 

 

2 dozen for me!!

Ok so on my day off, I went out in the truck with Steve for a day.  We left at 0430 from Mossman and drove up the range (86 bends in 8 klms) and it drops 470metres.  The first trip was pretty dark, we drove through Mt Molley, Mareeba, Tolga  & Atherton.  The scenery was absolutely stunning and changing as the light came up.  We had to drive through the clouds.  Coming down the range we have to stick to a speed of 25 klm per hour.

We passed many crops, Strawberries, Mango's, Avocado's, Bananas, corn on the cob, Peanuts, Potatoes, Water Melons & some we didn.t know what was!!

I did a bit of Cane Toad killing whilst Steve was on nights.  Three nights on the trot (excuse the pun) we had pig's visit, to eat the mango's falling from the trees.  The first night there was one massive pig and three smaller ones, the second night the same massive pig and four or five others & the third night the same again.  Well I had a couple of pops at them, but it was just to dark!!!  The fourth night some of the drivers on days stayed up to see the pigs (& chase them) and they never came that night or any night!!! Lots of mangos were waiting to be eaten but I think the country boys shot them!!
