Darwin to Adelaide Road Trip.(Dodging Wildlife on the Stuart Highway).

Just 3033 klms to drive to catch up with friends in our home state - SA.
We met up with Caleb at Pine Creek and shortly afterwards broke down. We were towed to Katherine for repairs. Unfortunately the repair was an half hour fix if they had the part. Four days later they did have the part and we were back on the road. The RAA were excellent - paid for tow truck, accommodation and car hire.
It was a great pleasure to spend more time with Caleb, meet his parents and visit their stunning property which backs onto the Katherine river, they also put on a magnificent lighting storm for us.

Along the road today we saw Goanna's, frilled necked lizards, black cockatoo's, horses & cattle.

There is no end to the vastness of our land.

In a lot of places, they had actually had a fair bit of rain.

About 5k outside Tenant Creek.

Home state for a short while.

  Today we dodged lots of wildlife again, the landscape was forever changing, wet and green, to dry and barren. We saw cars being tested, went through quarantine, passed the dog fence and saw our first sheep in two years.

Today we saw many lakes, Lizards, Skinks, Emu & sheep. It was like driving on the moon or the top of the world, we could actually see the curves. In places no tree's or bushes, just rock and stone. It was great to see pools of water for the stock. I wonder how many times a year it rains out here? I am guessing once if they are lucky. Fuel was 20 cents a litre cheaper in SA and we lost an hour, with the time change.

We could see forever.

We had a night in Port Broughton, caught up with Colin, Janet & Lucy. Next inland to catch up with Brandon & Jenny for a great brunch and chat!!!

I have to say- this was a fantastic time of year to drive central Australia. With the recent rains, no tourists, no traffic and very few trucks!!!
