Ida BayRailway. Tasmania.

Ida Bay Railway is the last operating bush tramway in Tasmania and is also the most southerly railway in Australia. This tramway was constructed in 1922 to carry limestone from the quarries southeast of Lune River to the wharf at brick point on Ida bay. The carriage of Limestone eventually went to trucks in and the last limestone train ran in June 1975. The track is 7km each way.  We caught the early train, did a walk to Southport Lagoon and caught the later train back. A lovely day!
$34 each.
We also visited Australia's most southern pub.

The wild flowers are amazing this time of year.

Old graves with sad stories of a 14 year old and 19 year old.
