These our the things I remember from our educational day on coffee!
> Jaques is a family business (3 generations) The family moved from Tanzania to start their new plantation in Queensland. They have been broke twice and still kept fighting to make excellent coffee.
> It takes 6kg of Cherries to make 1kg of Coffee beans.
> Jaques has 85,000 Arabica trees in rich soil on their 200 acre plantation.
> Pruning happens every 9 years approximately.
> Coffee Cherries never grow on dead wood.
>You get two beans from one Cherry.
> When roasting coffee, the difference is only 30 seconds between a medium roast & a dark roast.
> Jaques get a crop once a year.
The Off-Road Segway tour was good fun & informative.
