Ramada Eco Beach Resort. WA. (7)

A little bit of history about this resort. This resort is build on the land of the Yawuru people, where the Outback meets the Indian Ocean. The original Eco Beach transpired from a fishing trip to Cape Villaret in 1993. Broome based builder Karl Plunkett, originally from the Isle of Man, who fell in love with this pocket of coastline. So Eco beach resort was build, very different from how it is today.
Eco beach was completely destroyed when cyclone Rosita (Category five cyclone) decimated the retreat 19th April 2000.
Karl rebuild the resort and used the opportunity to enhance the level of luxury and eco friendly principles of Eco beach.

Lots of things happen at Eco beach, everyday is different and you never known what to expect!
This is a stunning natural environment and an amazing place to work. So today I have some random pictures from our time here, plus our day out at Port Smith doing some 4WD tracks! Life is good!

A day out at Port Smith and three 4 WD tracks that take us to some stunning destination's.
Cowie Creek (MILARNINYARRI), is the Southern most point accessible to tourists. This place is special because of it's reef, which lies close to the beach.

Very pretty and clear water.

A nice spot for lunch & watch the mud crabs swim by!

Five Brolga's.

Next stop Saddle Hill Cliffs (TARKATARKANGURRA).
The saddle hill area between Gourdon Bay & port Smith is a BIG fishing place for all Karajarri people. Here there are plenty of reef fish, kuckles, all sorts of shellfish and Dugong's in the bay.

Heading out to Saddle Hill Cliffs.

Very pretty, totally different colour to our cliffs at the resort.

It's a lonely place out here! Our idea of heaven.

Last stop Gourdon Bay (MIRNTANYMARTAJI).
Historically, the Gourdon bay area was used by the crews pearling fleets, who had established camps at Port Smith. Pearling luggers would replenish their supplies of water from the permanent well in Gourdon Bay & load up with firewood.

Gourdon Bay - where we watched lots of bottlenose dolphins feeding.

Gourdon Bay.

On our day trip, we saw Whales, Dolphins, Kingfishers, Mud Crabs, Brolga's, a blue tongue Lizard, a frilled necked lizard and Agile Wallaby.
