In the early 1800s Brisbane was discovered by European settlers, Sir Thomas Brisbane who was the governor of NSW at the time. Brisbane became a town in 1842.
We catch the train to central station. We take a look at most points of interest, to name a few - Post Office Square, City Hall with its clock tower, Riverside Centre, Maritime museum (where we see Ella's sailing boat Pink Lady), Anzac square, the bank of NSW and the bank of QLD. Some of the architect was stunning, however the stunning buildings where dwarf by huge sky scrapers.
We take a trip on the Brisbane Ferris wheel, which gave us stunning views of the city and surrounding area, strolling along South Bank, the cultural centre, the man made riverside park swimming pools, a walk through the 1klm bougainvillea shaded walk.
We take a ferry ride along the river and traverse along the river, checking out the scenery. We walk over the goodwill bridge and take a stroll through the botanical gardens. Time for a beer and watch some cricket.
We found a fantastic Chinese bakery and the custard puff was to die for!!! More walking, more eating before catching the train back to our apartment.

The Brisbane Ferris Wheel, designed by Dutchman Ronald Bussink, one of the largest observation wheels in the Southern hemisphere.
South Bank Grand Arbour is a 1km long sculpture of steel tendrils on which bougainvillea blooms all year.

Another paddle steamer on the Brisbane River which flows some 346km & is crossed by 16 major bridges. (Not recommended for swimming, as aggressive bull sharks up to 3 metres long patrol these waters).

Story Bridge, its the longest of its kind in Australia. (777metres long and as high as a 22 storey building, built with 12,000 tonnes of steel & 17,500 litres of paint).
From December 2010 to February 2011, a series of floods impacted Brisbane, the river broke its banks on January 11, levels peaked at 4.46 metres and 35 lives were lost.
