We left Darwin behind and headed
out through Kakadu National park, we saw some Timor ponies and fire’s burning.
We Passed through Jabiru and onto Merle Campsite for the night. Here we were
only 1 klm from Cahill’s crossing. We walked down to take a look at the
crossing and counted 8 big salt water Crocodiles, catching fish around the
crossing. We saw vehicles crossing and the height of the water was 0.5,
apparently it’s not just the depth of the water here, but the speed and yes it
was running very fast. We also did the sunset at Ubirr Rock- which was
beautiful and the view looking out across the wetlands is a must.

Next morning 0830 we did the
crossing and the water was very low and we only saw 1 big Croc. Tyres down and
off we go to Garig Gunak Barlu National park (Coburg Peninsular). What stunning scenery, escarpments, rocks, Ponies,
hills, lily's, birds everywhere and lots of water ways.
First stop Injalak Art centre at
Gunbalanya (Oenpelli). This art sight is located in breathtaking scenery. The
Kunwinjku artists paint in figurative x-ray style synonymous with Western Arnhem
land, in which internal organs and skeletal structures of animal painted are
depicted. This date’s back some 50,000 years. The weavers of this area also
produce superb baskets, utilising local and natural materials. This is a
fantastic art centre and you get to see the Fella’s painting and women weaving.
