We depart Cape Tribulation and stop of at Myall Beach &
Coconut Beach; Continue on through Noah’s Range, Thornton Beach and passed
fields of Daintree tea. Next stop the
Daintree Discovery centre, which was very informative about the rain forest, flora,
fauna & animals etc. This is the Cassowary natural habitat, they are
endangered and as yet we haven’t seen a wild one. The walkways are at all different levels and
they have a large tower, so you can see the rainforest from the top. We did also see a Red Bellied Black snake in
the wild here, not in captivity. After
spending a couple of hours here, we travel on through the Daintree National
Park and on to Alexander Range lookout, which has stunning views of the
Daintree River and Offshore Islands. We
take the ferry across the Daintree River, which was just $13 one way &
twice as far as the Jardine Ferry, so we thought this was a bargain!! We work our way towards Port Douglas, passing
through Mossman (which we are going to do a day trip to) and acres upon acres
of Sugar Cane Plantations. We also had
Orange Footed Scrub Fowl around our camp site.
